Ireland Ministerial Trade Mission Delegation In Visit To UAE’s TRA

H.E Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, TRA Deputy Director General for Telecommunications Sector, received a high-level delegation from the Republic of Ireland. The Delegation was headed by H.E Mr. Charles Flanagan, Ireland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms. Sarah Kavanagh the Special Advisor to Minister Flanagan, Mr. Ciaran Madden the Director of the Middle East & North Africa Ireland Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in addition to a group of advisors and directors of major companies in the ICTbusiness sector.

From TRA’s side, Mr. Salem Al Housani, Director of Development Department, Engineer Saif Bin Ghelaita, Director of Technology Development Affairs and Engineer Omar Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Acting CEO ICT Fund attended the meeting. 

This visit comes in the context of strengthening the collaboration prospects and exchanging experiences in the ICT field, as well as presenting innovative solutions in the Internet of Things (IoT), Information security, cloud computing, data analytics, customer experience management, e-government, e-commerce, digital solutions and smart city technologies.

Commenting on the visit, H.E Majed Al Mesmar said: ‘We are very pleased with the visit of H.E Minister Flanagan and his delegation. We look forward to strengthening the partnership and collaboration with the Republic of Ireland in all matters related to the development of the ICT sector in both countries. This visit has allowed us to inform the Irish Delegation about the great steps achieved in the ICT sector in the UAE, including the constant efforts to develop the infrastructure and transition to the Internet Protocol 6.0 (IPV6). We have also showed the transformation to the smart government and the use of artificial intelligence in achieving the vision of the UAE’s government, which aims to employ all the capacities for the service and happiness of humankind.’

H.E Al Mesmar added: ‘We have heard from the guest delegation about the plans and strategies of the Irish Government for ICT development and the crucial role played by the Irish Companies in this aspect. The participation of representatives of some of the most important ICT Companies has contributed in clarifying the services and solutions provided by the private sector and its important role in developing the Irish ICT sector. 

The Irish delegation members expressed their deepest admiration to the extent of developments that the ICT sector has been witnessing in the UAE, including developing an infrastructure that is capable of adapting to the future requirements. Moreover, they expressed their appreciation to the role of the UAE national competencies in leading and accomplishing projects that require a high level of understanding, knowledge, and management skills.
