CDA Calls on researchers to participate in the 1st International Conference in Inclusive Employment and Occupational Learning 2017
(29 November 2017)

The Dubai Community Development Authority (CDA) has invited researchers, academics, and experts in the field of vocational education and inclusive employment to submit research papers to be presented during the First International Conference in Inclusive Employment and Occupational Learning 2017, set to be held on 10-11 December in Dubai.

The conference is sponsored by the CDA and organised by Qualifications House UK in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event is rooted in the “My Community... A City for Everyone” initiative, which seeks to make Dubai a friendlier city for people of determination.
The CDA has also launched a dedicated website http://www.icieol.com/ , which includes a comprehensive overview of the conference, its objectives, and the elite speakers whom are to be hosted. The conference will bring together an array of government and private entities’ representatives, stakeholders, people of determination, the public, as well as a selection of world-class experts.

The unique conference is the first-of-its-kind in the region, and will consolidate efforts of human capital development in the UAE, chiefly related to the people of determination, by activating the role of scientific research and employing its outputs to increase inclusive employment.

In addition, the conference will work to develop the necessary strategies to enhance the role of rehabilitation and training from an integrated perspective, and identify the challenges associated with achieving an inclusive working environment for people of determination, in line with Dubai’s 2020 disability strategy and the Authority’s leading role in adequately training the local labour market to deal with disability, while also empowering people of determination financially.

“Through the conference, we aim to identify the most important challenges surrounding vocational rehabilitation and training for people of determination, and forecasting the future of inclusive employment.” said Sheikha Dr Alia Humaid Al Qassimi, Head of CDA’s Taskforce for the Dubai Strategy for People of Determination 2020. “Scientific research and international expertise constitute the backbone of our endeavours to implement best practices in this field and to support the overall development process in the UAE.”
“We call upon researchers and academics from various concerned entities, universities, and specialised research institutes to submit their working papers, discuss them with a selection of the best national and international experts, and come up with recommendations and tactics to improve the employment opportunities for people of determination, which will contribute to the optimal investment of their potentials, and unlock their maximum input into the society’s welfare.”

The conference will boast a series of lectures, discussions, and workshops, led by some of the best academic and practical experts in the field of vocational education. It will also discuss international research and best practices in this field, and the ways in which to implement them, focusing on evaluating the job skills and how best to improve them.

“The importance of having researchers take part in the conference stems from the need for a systematic scientific approach to identifying the problems and challenges facing People of Determination, and proposing innovative solutions for them,” said Dr Hisham Al Saghbini, CEO Qualifications House UK. “The research papers that will be presented will be published through the international digital library EBSCO, and discussed at the conference. Meanwhile, the research papers that have yet to be finalised will be presented in the next edition of this conference in 2018”

The conference aims to identify the employment needs of the people of determination, and the requirements and conditions of establishing their rights towards employment.
The initiatives emanating from the conference will contribute to activating the mechanisms needed to sustain human resource development by capitalising on academic research and practical experience in the process of inclusive employment, and activating the role of smart technology in planning, implementing, and evaluating its processes.
