Ministry Of Education Sets 20th January For Launch Of EmSAT For Grade 12 Students
(11 December 2017)

The Ministry of Education has set 20th January as the date of the launch of Emirates Standardized Test, EmSAT, for Grade 12 students for the 2017-2018 school year.

All Emirati Grade 12 students in public and private schools must take the standardised test in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Arabic, while advanced-level students or their equivalent must also take the Chemistry test.

The same applies to all non-Emirati Grade 12 students studying in public and private schools that teach the Ministry of Education’s curriculum.

The Ministry of Education called on the students to review the details related to EmSAT, which are available on the website EmSAT.moe.gov.ae, while stressing that the tests will be held at specialised test centres around the UAE.

The ministry also specified the procedures to register students in the standardised test system by their schools. Grade 12 students must log onto the test website and choose from the available centres, as well as select appropriate times and dates on which to take the tests. Four test sessions will be held daily at most test centres, and a guide for students on how to register for the tests is available on the website, it added.

Students and school test co-ordinators can view information on the website related to the available testing centres and testing dates and times, as well other information, such as testing specifications, the types of clauses enforced and the duration of the tests.

The current school year also witnessed the adoption of the EmSAT Advantage Test for Grades 4, 6, 8 and 10 in English Language, Mathematics and Science, which will begin on 18th February and will continue until 1st March in selected public schools.

EmSAT is part of the country’s comprehensive development of its education sector, which aims to provide specific information for decision-makers and educational leaderships on the country’s overall educational system, so they can make the necessary decisions to improve this system. It also aims to modernise the country’s educational monitoring technologies, including the use of computers, to harmonise the methods of gathering important data and information in this area.

The EmSAT is considered the first national computer-based benchmarking test built to measure skills independently of curriculum for grades (1-4-6-8-10-12).
