His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, today attended the main session of the 12th Dubai International Sports Conference.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of the Dubai Sports Council, and under the auspices of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, the Conference is organised by the Dubai Sports Council.
President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum; Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais; Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami; Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police His Excellency Major General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri; Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Conference His Excellency Mohammed Al Kamali; and Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council Saeed Hareb also attended the Conference.
At the event, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed honoured FIFA President Gianni Infantino in recognition of his efforts to serve the world football association, and his regular participation in the Dubai International Sports Conference. His Highness also honoured Chairman of the General Sports Authority, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee and Union of Arab Football Associations His Excellency Turki Al-Asheikh, who was named the most influential Arab sports personality of the year. Deputy Chairman of the General Sports Authority HRH Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal received the award on behalf Turki Al-Asheikh.
During the main session of the Conference, FIFA President Infantino highlighted FIFA’s plans and projects to develop football. The two-day event, which concluded today, covered six key themes related to the importance of investing in football. Speakers at this year’s event included Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, Barcelona legend Carles Puyol, former England and Russia coach Fabio Capello, former referee and member of the UEFA Referees Committee Pierluigi Collina, and recently retired Roma and Italy star Francesco Totti.
