New Insurance Scheme Launched For Indian Expats In The UAE
(17 May 2018)
My India Care is a unique insurance product specially designed for Indian expats in UAE to get lifelong health insurance coverage in India.

Indian expatriates living and working across the UAE can now avail medical and accident insurance schemes in India, thanks to a new, first of its kind insurance policy that was launched in the United Arab Emirates.

The new policy, My India Care ensures continuity of cover when an insured person returns to India till end of life and is a joint initiative by Gargash Insurance Services, the leading national insurance brokerage arm in the UAE and National Takaful Company, Watania, one of the leading takaful insurer in UAE.

Currently when Non Resident Indians return to India they find it difficult to obtain medical insurance, especially because of age and adverse medical conditions. My India Care scheme ensures continuity of cover when an insured person returns to India, till the end of life. However, this insurance scheme is not a replacement to your regular health insurance in the UAE, which is usually valid till the end of your current employment tenure.

Announcing the new scheme during a press conference held at the India Club in Dubai, Mustafa Oliyath Vazayil, Managing Director, Gargash Insurance said, the new scheme is specifically aimed at Indians living and working in the UAE. This product is designed at facilitating a seamless medical and accident insurance cover, where the beneficiary continues to remain covered even after they return to India post their expatriate life.

"The idea behind the scheme is to ensure that expatriates and their dependents residing in UAE/ India or elsewhere to get hospitalisation and day care benefits in India. This scheme is open for all NRIs in UAE below 55 years old, their spouse and children upto 24 years,” said Vazayil.

"The new scheme allows access to the most advanced healthcare facilities on cashless direct billing basis. The hospitalisation and daycare claim in India is administered by our partner Religare Health Insurance Co Ltd. through a wide network over 5000 medical providers across India. This will help the insured member to recover the cost without worrying about medical bills and other related expenses,” says Mr. Gautam Datta, CEO of Watania.

The policy is affordably priced and can be subscribed online. “We have priced the scheme in a way that it is affordable to every expatriate living and working in the UAE. The premium starts from AED 311 per year or less than AED 1 per day. NRIs can easily subscribe and pay to the scheme by visiting the website of Gargash Insurance,” added Vazayil.
