DED Conducts Compliance Awareness Workshops For DHCC Companies
(18 July 2018)
Follows partnership signed between DED and DHCC on inspection and commercial control

The Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector in the Department of Economic Development (DED), Dubai, conducted awareness workshops for 44 companies operating in the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) following a co-operation agreement signed between the two entities. The agreement seeks to improve awareness on commercial control, intellectual property (IP) and consumer protection among DHCC companies and ensure effective inspection and compliance among them. CCCP has already visited 70 DHCC companies to verify their level of awareness of the laws and procedures followed by the sector and is also scheduled to visit a further 251 companies as part of the agreement.

Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, CEO of CCCP, said: "These workshops are part of educating Dubai businesses on the role and mission of CCCP. We are keen to enhance our communication with the business community in mainland Dubai, as well as the free zones, which account for a major share of the market activity in Dubai and the UAE."

"We organised the workshop in Dubai Healthcare City as part of extending our awareness programme to healthcare businesses. The CCCP team is preparing a series of such workshops to educate different business communities in Dubai to ensure that the sector’s mission is communicated across all possible levels so that the emirate retains its leadership in attracting businesses," said Lootah.

"Our goal is to build trust with different business communities, protect their rights and trademarks, maintain dynamic customer relations with traders, ensure quality of services and products offered to consumers, and to emphasise their role in supporting trade movement and retailing in Dubai. We are also organising visits to companies and institutions within the Dubai Healthcare City as part of our awareness campaign,” Lootah added.

The interactive workshops include discussions on the rights and responsibilities of traders as well as co-operation and co-ordination with CCCP, Lootah said. The workshops also introduced traders to the laws as well as the administrative and regulatory procedures of CCCP.

Dr Ramadan AlBlooshi, CEO, Dubai Healthcare City Authority - Regulatory, said, “These workshops increase our customers’ knowledge towards consumer rights and responsibilities, and this in turn, supports our efforts in ensuring a secure and sustainable business environment within the free zone. We are always seeking to utilize partnerships with government entities to enhance the experience of our customers.”
