Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended Mashreq Bank celebrations on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee accompanied by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed viewed a film about the bank's progress over the past fifty years and the stages of its development until it became one of the first national banks to contribute to urban and commercial development in the country and support its economy. Today, Mashreq Bank’s financial assets stand at about AED123 billion compared to AED2 billion on the day of its establishment in 1967. 

Sheikh Mohammed congratulated Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair the bank’s success and the positive role it plays in supporting the UAE's national economy.

The ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director-General of Dubai Department of Information; Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy; Humaid Al Qutami Director General of the Dubai Health Authority; Ahmed Abdullah Al Ghurair, Founder of Mashreq Bank; Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Essa Kazim, Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC); and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality in addition to other officials in the banking sector.
