Dubai Customs celebrates World Heritage Day
(19 April 2017)

Dubai Customs organized a number of UAE heritage functions on the World Heritage Day. The event included heritage sessions to enlighten participants with the local ancestors’ cultural heritage, and preparation of traditional cuisines.

It’s a corporate social responsibility at Dubai Customs that derives its value from a UAE rich heritage and deep history, Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication Department pointed out.

“We want to raise awareness amongst staff and clients around this UAE rich heritage and its leading role worldwide as a place that disseminates knowledge, tolerance and openness”.

World Heritage Day was created in 1982 by ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments & Sites) and was later approved at the UNESCO General Conference in 1983.

The aim is to promote awareness about the diversity of cultural heritage of humanity, their vulnerability and the efforts required for their protection and conservation.

The World Heritage Day falls on 18th April every year to celebrate the shared wealth of humankind. The event is marked globally, and each year there’s a theme – this year it’s sustainable tourism.
