Dubai Chamber shares ATA Carnets knowledge with Kuwait Chamber

Receives Kuwaiti delegation looking to adopt implementation of the international customs document that facilitates global trade 

Dubai, UAE: As part of its efforts to share experiences and best practices in the implementation of ATA Carnets and to enhance bilateral cooperation across the GCC chambers of commerce, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry received a delegation from the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Chamber head office recently.

Led by Abdulaziz Ahmed Salim, Assistant Director, Computers and IT, and Abdul Jabbar Ali Al Mutawa, Assistant, Transactions, Kuwait Chamber, the delegation was received by Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Vice- President, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber. 

Welcoming the Kuwait Chamber delegation, Nasib informed the visitors about the prominent role played by Dubai Chamber in issuing Certificates of Origin which he said numbered 692,000 between January and September this year as well as the issuance of 125 ATA carnets in the first half of the year, adding that these services are supporting Dubai’s leadership in global trade.

He also added that during the first nine months of this year over 11,900 new companies joined Dubai Chamber bringing its total membership to 195,000 with a 4.3% growth in membership while taking the Chamber closer to its targeted membership of 200,000 by the end of the year while making it one of the largest chambers of commerce in the world.

Highlighting the value of Dubai Chamber members’  exports and re-exports during the first nine months of 2016, Nasib informed that this value amounted to AED 201.8 billion, while the member’s monthly exports and re-exports in February this year was the highest till date with a total value of AED 24.3 billion.

He said: “The recent establishment of the Kuwait Business Council in Dubai and Northern Emirates is seen as a positive step to boost economic cooperation and enhancement of trade and commerce between the business communities of the two brotherly GCC countries while taking their bilateral trade relations to a higher level.”
