(28 November 2016)

Dubai Customs resumed its “Dubai Reads” Campaign which aims at sharing 10,000 books with visitors of Dubai Mall until the end of December. Last Thursday, 3,000 books were distributed in neat bags that contained 4 different books each.

The initiative, run by the Dubai Customs library in cooperation with Dubai Customs’ Corporate Communication Department and Mohamm bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, is a response to the National Reading Law and the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, May God save him, who declared 2016 as the year of reading, and following the vision of  His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, May God save him, which confirms the importance of reading in building a better future and supporting knowledge economy.

Shaikha Masoud, Training Specialist at Dubai Customs, who suggested the initiative, said:

“The Campaign at Dubai Mall saw a great turnout from different visitors who crowded at Dubai Customs stand in the mall to get their knowledge bags. Such initiatives will enhance the UAE’s cultural side following the steps and vision of our wise leaders”.

Since the launch of Dubai Reads Campaign in the second week of November more than 7,000 books have been distributed in different places in Dubai which included the Ministry of Interior, Dubai Health Authority, public parks, local universities and schools, and shopping malls.
