Dubai’s Awqaf Foundation Breaks Ground On Charity And Endowment Residential Complex
(17 April 2018)

Khaled Al Thani, Deputy Secretary-General of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, AMAF, laid the foundation stone for the charity and endowment residential complex, at a special ceremony attended by senior AMAF officials. The complex located in Al Garhoud area, once complete, will feature five villas.

With a total construction cost of AED9 million, the project is expected to generate AED750,000 in annual revenues. The returns will be dedicated to AMAF’s Endowment Way-Out for Islamic Affairs, Al Matar Mosque which seeks to maintain places of worship and enable them to serve as religious and cultural hubs that support students and memorizers of the Holy Quran, help translate its meanings to other languages, and teach the Prophet’s, PBUH, Sunnah.

The five residential villas will take shape over 19,600 sq ft with the built-up area for each villa totaling 3,920 sq ft. Every villa will include five master bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a maid’s room on the ground floor, a swimming pool, and two parking spots.

Speaking on this project, Khaled Al Thani said, "AMAF seeks to inculcate noble values in society through encouraging tolerant religious practices and ideals that emphasize the importance of empathy towards all, especially the underprivileged. These efforts align with the UAE’s strategy that is spearheaded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and aims to strengthen the cohesiveness of our society and protect its identity."

He added, "During the Year of Zayed, we celebrate the legacy of the founding father of the UAE, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who dedicated his life to help those in need and reinforce values of solidarity and collaboration. In line with this proud legacy, we are committed to financing the construction of mosques and enhancing partnerships in this regard. Mosques in the UAE are not only places for worship and religious practice, they are also a catalyst for enhancing social relations and noble values under the patronage and directives of our wise leadership."
