CDA Celebrates The Winners Of The Third Edition Of The Mansour Bin Mohammed Short Film Award

The Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA), celebrated today in the presence of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the conclusion of the third edition of "Mansour Bin Mohammed Short Film Award", launched last November and targeted youth in the UAE from different nationalities and specialities. The event honoured the three first winners of each of the Awards’ categories which included Tolerance & Moderation, Combating Discrimination & equality and the volunteer culture.

“Pursuit of Happiness”, a short film produced by Abdullah Emad El Diin Malik, won the first position in the Tolerance & Moderation category, the movie presents a visual narration about for searching for happiness concluding that happiness is to live in a homeland that loves, embraces and protects you. It highlights different aspects of the cultural diversity of the UAE and the culture of tolerance and cohabitation enjoyed by 200 nationalities in the country.

In the same category, “Pursuit of peace” by Mouhammed Saleem achieved the second position and “On the same was’ by Alaa Kamal Salem got the third position. 

The first position in the “Combating Discrimination & equality” category went to Eynas Bassam Orabi, for her movie “Visual effect”, the film raises the issue of discrimination based on style and appearance in today's world, the second position in the same category went to “Spirtual light” by Hummam Waleed Al Nabtiti, and the third position went to “Children know it better” by Saeed Ghulam Abbas. 

“Doing your bit” was the first position winner of the Volunteer Culture category, the movie by Sandhya Ramachandran, present a model for a voluntary organization in the UAE providing an important message about the impact of each individual contribution no matter how simple idea to the society.   

The second position in the same category went to “72 KG” by Thamar Karuvanta  Valappil, and the third position went to “because I am human” by Nuha Mohammad Saeed. 
During her opening speech to the event, Maith Al Shamsi, CEO, Human Rights Sector in CDA said that Mansour Bin Mohammed Short Film Award has become an important platform for spreading community awareness about the rights of the most vulnerable groups and a number of the most prominent social issues. “the Award is becoming bigger and better year after year in terms of technical specifications and attracting more youth to participate in the award”.

“the submissions shown that although the award is still at its third edition, it has become a platform for young people to develop artistic innovations that serve community issues”, Al Shamsi added.
Al Shamsi thanked HH Sheikh Mansoor for his patronage and support to the award, which greatly contributed to the delivery of the prize message to the community. 

The jury of the third edition of Mansour Bin Mohammed Short Film Award was led by Emirati director Masood Ammarullah, director of the Dubai Film Festival, and included screenwriter Mohammed Hassan Ahmed and Emirati director Saeed Salmin Al Marri. The jury reviewed 30 movies to select the best three in each category based on their ability to communicate messages visually and on the technical standards provided.
