Skywards celebrates a million milestones at Dubai World Cup
(25 March 2010)

Immensely-popular Skywards, the frequent-flyer programme from Emirates airline is clocking up a million milestones in the run-up to Dubai World Cup 2010 - the world’s richest horse racing extravaganza.

The award-winning loyalty programme which recently celebrated the entry of its five millionth member will once again offer a top prize of one million Skywards Miles in its ‘Thanks a Million’ draw at the Dubai World Cup on 27th March. The promotion, now in its tenth year, has raised AED 1.9 million for charity causes such as Riding for the Disabled Association of Dubai (RDAD), UNICEF, UAE Red Crescent and Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre.

A million Skywards Miles offers numerous globe-trotting options. Fly from Dubai to anywhere in Europe from London to Paris or Rome with 22 tickets in one’s credit. If Far East is one’s choice, get 19 tickets to exotic cities like Beijing, Tokyo or Singapore. The Americas and Australia are also within reach with 12 and 13 tickets respectively. All tickets are in Economy class.

Two runner-up prizes of 250,000 Miles each are also raffled on the day. Tickets – AED 20 for one or AED 100 for six – are sold prior to and on the day of the event by volunteers from Skywards, Emirates and the charity associations.

Brian LaBelle, Senior Vice President, Skywards said: “We are pleased with the popularity of the annual ‘Thanks a Million’ promotion. Year after year it draws successful responses from race goers. At the same time it also gives us the opportunity to support many worthwhile organisations and strengthen their charity activities.”

“Skywards has helped us fulfil our vision of “Live to learn, learn to live” through the Thanks a Million campaign,” said Mariam Othman, Director of Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre.

This year’s proceeds will be allocated to build facilities for the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre and support its therapy courses.
