Ayyam Gallery : 9 Mar - 17 Jun 2017
New Yorker Samia Halaby will exhibit two of her latest projects side-by-side at Ayyam Gallery. ’Illuminated Spaces’ literally is the artist’s impression of ’the space of light,’ depicted through paintings of her environment. The series evolved over two years. The second, entitled ’Documentary Drawings of the Kafr Qasem Massacre,’ is a hard-hitting series illustrating the tragic events of 1956 in Palestine. This project unfolded over 10 years of research and interviews with victims’ families.

Artist Run New York: The Seventies : 9 Mar - 30 Jun 2017
Step back in time to New York in the seventies to see the transformation of contemporary art. This exhibition present the creative works of Tina Girouard, Philip Glass, Robert Grosvenor, Richard Landry, Suzanne Harris, Jene Highstein, Nancy Holt, Joan Jonas, Gordon Matta-Clark, Richard Nonas, Alan Saret, Keith Sonnier, John Torreano, Richard Tuttle, Lynn Umlauf, and Laurence Weiner. Multiple mediums including photography, video, painting, sculpture, drawing, writing, archival materials and live performances will be on display.

Custot Gallery turns one, and to commemorate its first anniversary, nine artists will feature in a curated group exhibition titled ’BLACK, WHITE’. Fred Kleinberg at Dubai Design Week : 13 Mar - 10 Sep 2017
La Galerie Nationale brings back the successful concept of showcasing art and designer pieces in a space that is laid out to look like an apartment, with actual pieces of art as décor, including furniture. This time a whole new set of artists have been showcased in the unusual space, and Fred Kleinberg, creating art since 1985, is invited exhibit his oil paintings.

This event will be open to all art lovers and collectors in the heart of Dubai’s art scene - Al Serkal Avenue. Sculptures are a part of our everyday existence; they are featured in parks, streets, private properties, gardens and in the architecture of buildings and memorials. This exhibition will give us an opportunity to study, examine and interpret a variety of Arabian sculptures collected through the ages.

Modernist Women of Egypt Exhibition : 22 May - 27 Jul 2017
Women everywhere still struggle to set foot in so many domains. However, in the Arab world, the voice of women is being heard more and more socially, politically and in other areas of life. Art is one of the more successful mediums through which women are shining. One such exhibition is ’Modernist Women of Egypt’. This special group exhibit can be viewed at the Green Art Gallery in Alserkal Avenue and includes pieces by female artists namely Inji Efflatoun, Vassila Farid, Tahia Halim, Zeinab Abdel Hamid, Effat Naghi, Marguerite Nakhla, Gazbia Sirry, and Margo Veillon. The artworks on display are dated from 1950-1970. They show the evolution of styles which shape the Egyptian identity of today, and reflect the direct and emotional impacts of political unrest in Egypt and the rest of the world at the time. Don’t miss this opportunity to take a peek at the major turning points of female revolution in the arts.

Ramadanization Art Exhibition : 24 May - 27 Jun 2017
DUCTAC will host an art exhibition that showcases the creativity of artists who observe Ramadan, and their perspectives on the Holy Month. The exhibition, entitled ’Ramadanization,’ will be a collection of multimedia pieces and installations expressing their views, opinions and social commentary of what Ramadan means to them and how it is perceived in today’s media-bombarded generation. The exhibition opens at 7pm on 24 May, but if you can’t make it the opening night you can catch it anytime during Ramadan month.
