Dubai Shopping Festival - Highlights

Dubai Shopping Festival, 5 January - 5 February 2012

Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) takes place every winter with its mammoth array of discounts, competitions, prizes, fireworks and entertainment. DSF offers amazing shopping discounts, attracting holiday makers from around the globe keen on grabbing a bargain.

The festival began in 1996 as an initiative of the Dubai government to promote trade, and it gets bigger and better every year. DSF is not only a retail festival, but also a family festival with a large focus on mall-based entertainment and early evening shows. Its continued success is proven by the large number of tourists from not only the GCC but also the rest of the world.

After the grand success of DSF 2011, the 17th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival, DSF 2012, organized by the Dubai Events and Promotion Establishment (DEPE), will be held between 5th January 2012 and 5th February 2012. Atleast 6000 retail outlets and 50 shopping malls are likely to participate in DSF 2012.

DSF Night Souk
Date: January 05 – February 05
Venue: Al Rigga Street

Numerous retail outlets display various brands and remain open late till after midnight to give shoppers a unique shopping experience. Goods on sale include watches, bags, clothes, electronics, jewellery, home appliances, and much more. Apart from excellent bargains, the Night Souk hosts various eats and treats so that visitors can conveniently grab a quick bite and enjoy as they indulge in long hours of shopping at leisure.

Weekdays: 6:00pm - 2:00am
Weekends: 6:00pm - 3:00am

Fireworks by Al Zarooni
Date: January 05 – February 05
Venue: Al Seef Street

A daily fireworks show is among the highlights of Dubai Shopping Festival 2012. The fireworks are organised by Al Zarooni Group and will light up the sky over the Dubai Creek daily at 8:30pm.

The Global Village
Date: November 01, 2011 – March 03, 2012
Venue: Global Village land

The Global Village is another major attraction during the DSF 2012 for visitors, who get to explore international heritage and cultural diversity. The Global Village is associated with DSF, although it runs longer than DSF. The Global Village is a unique concept of bringing the entire globe under a single roof. As the name indicates, Global Village is a true representation of culture of various countries at a single place. Every country will set up its own pavilion, wherein renowned products in their home countries are displayed. Apart from product sale, Global Village also offers entertainment events, food stalls, children rides, sports activities and lucky draws on daily basis.

Carpet and Arts Oasis
Date: January 05 – February 05
Venue: Airport Expo Dubai, West Hall

A unique annual bonanza which now draws in thousands of tourist and visitors from all around the world to Dubai. It offers a treasure trove of carpets, with traders from all over the world offering good value on a comprehensive range of floor coverings. It covers a massive space of 12,000 square metres and contains around 100,000 carpets from around the world.

International Kite Festival
Date: January 13
Venue: Dubai Outlet Mall

Three international kite teams display around thirty different massive kites. Event also features kite workshop for kids and a fun fair. Part of the proceeds will go to a school for special needs children.
