Dubai Cargo Village
Cargo village was established in 1991 to handle all air cargo operations at Dubai International Airport. But increasing cargo traffic resulted in the original cargo building equipped to handle 250,000 annual tonnes to go over capacity. In 1997 the cargo terminal handled in excess of 400,000 tonnes and the trend shows that there will be a need to provide facilities for up to one million annual tonnes of air cargo by the year 2005, two million tonnes by the year 2014 and 2.7 million tonnes by 2018.To cope up with the demand for cargo space, the Department of Civil Aviation has embarked upon a major cargo expansion programme to increase freight handling capacity at the cargo village.
The team has worked hard to make the world aware of Dubai as a trade and commerce capital of the Middle East and the Dubai Cargo Village has played a vital part in Dubai’s continuing growth & success.
