Brand Dubai to showcase works of UAE artists at World Government Summit

Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, is showcasing select artworks of UAE-based artists at the seventh edition of the World Government Summit being held from 10-12 February in Dubai. Brand Dubai’s initiative at the event aims to shed light on the cultural aspects of the UAE’s development journey and the foundation of values that has guided the country’s growth. The initiative, part of Brand Dubai’s efforts to display the works of UAE-based artists at international events, will feature the creations of four Emirati artists and a UAE-based artist. Nehal Badri, Director of Brand Dubai said: "Brand Dubai’s initiative is aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the role of art in social development. We constantly explore creative ways of telling the story of Dubai’s unique development journey and its heritage and history. This initiative at the World Government Summit is a great opportunity to showcase the UAE’s artistic and creative talent to an international audience.”

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Manager - City Branding, Brand Dubai said: “This initiative at the World Government Summit is part of Brand Dubai’s efforts to communicate positive messages about Dubai’s unique culture, values and identity through the medium of art. We seek to` partner with artists and a range of organisations to promote aesthetic excellence and innovation in Dubai.

The artists, whose works will be featured in Brand Dubai’s initiative at the Summit, include Azza Al Qubaisi; Latifa Saeed and Talin Hazbar; Maitha Demithan; and Shamma Al Amri.

Azza Al Qubaisi is an Emirati artist, sculptor and product designer who is often referred to as the first Emirati jewellery artist. She has exhibited locally and internationally in group and solo shows and represented the UAE in several international art exhibitions and events.

Latifa Saeed, an Emirati artist and designer, employs experimental and intuitive-based methodologies in both her art practice and design commissions. She archives lost knowledge about the potential uses and strengths of traditional crafts skills, and is interested in sparking life back into old traditions in her own practice.

UAE-based artist Talin Hazbar, who works across architecture, design and art, utilises her architecture practice and material research to create transient structures that reflect organic growth and decay and implement research processes in art.

Emirati artist Maitha Demithan combines several mediums including photography, scanography, painting, drawing and photo transfers in her work. She has exhibited her work across the world as part of group shows and exhibitions at international events.
