General public and persons below the age of 21 are not allowed into the exhibition. Background:Organised since 1987, Gulfood is the region’s largest and most important industry event of the year and a strategic platform for buyers and sellers to conduct direct business face to face. The exhibition is a showcase for manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers from around the world, representing all of the key sectors within the food and hospitality trade. In 2007, Gulfood brought together 2,471 companies from 75 countries and featured 56 national pavilions. The exhibition attracted 37,618 visitors from 140 countries including buying delegations not only from the Middle East but as far as: Armenia, Canada, Egypt, India, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia, Malaysia, Morocco, Philippines, Russia, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, UK and USA. Supporting events held in conjunction with Gulfood 2007 included: The Emirates International Salon Culinaire organised by The Emirates Culinary Guild featured seminars, culinary competitions, and demonstrations involving more than a 1,000 international chefs. The Dubai International Food Safety Conference organised by the Dubai Municipality Public Health Department. The 13th edition of Gulfood in 2008 has confirmed over 20% growth in exhibition space, with an expansion into Sheikh Rashid and Sheikh Maktoum Halls at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
