Dubai Shamaal- Surf Ski Race
The Dubai Shamaal is one of the richest Surf Ski Race ever seen and is taking place on 2nd December 2008. The www.surfski.info and Dubai Shamaal teams have joined forces to launch and promote the third year of the Dubai Shamaal International Surf Ski Race with the Dubai Anchorman Competition. The Dubai Shamaal in 3 years has done what has taken other races 30yrs, based on the prize money on offer, marketing focus, excellent logistics & legendary Arabic hospitality. The race is becoming a firm favorite with the touring pro’s, and regular ocean paddlers & is a must for the major contenders due to the big pay day it offers. This year the race pays $100 000 and covers males & ladies, masters & Jr paddlers. Raced in flat water in it’s 1st year & huge ‘Shamaal’ (Desert Winds) in it’s second the race has developed into a test of multi water condition ability & composure to secure the $20 000 1st prize. This event will offer the visiting international’s vs DSKC local’s dragon boating challenge, the ‘legends of the blue’ discussion, where leading paddler’s of the world are interviewed and this year the Dubai Shamaal 2008 ‘awards’ dinner will be launched where the best performer’s & moments from the surf ski world will be recognized. The Dubai Shamaal Race Committee are delighted to present Epic Kayaks as the official racing boat of the Dubai Shamaal 2008.Epic Kayaks will almost have their full range of Ocean racing skis available for hire on a "1st come 1st served" basis. Multi World Champion Oscar Chalupsky has been contracted by the Dubai Shamaal to give a series of Ocean Paddling clinics to all who have entered this competition.
