MIA – Made in the Arab World 2008 - 09 is a competition that aims to encourage innovations for technological or scientific problems in the Arab world. Its main aim is to foster business oriented results & developing products of significant market value. It also aims to bring together the industry and the universities on the same platform. This helps in streamlining courses at universities that teach entrepreneurial skills as well as think innovatively on outstanding business ideas. If the prize money of US $ 50,000 is a huge attraction to the students, the exposure to various entrepreneurship training topics and opportunity to get commercialization and investment support for winning top projects adds another dimension to the importance of participation. The participant levels are Level 1 – Undergraduate students, Level 2 – University & Research staff, Level 3 – Professionals. The MIA is open only for Arab nationals residing in Arab countries, Projects submitted must be in IT & Applied engineering. It should be realistic and a working prototype should be submitted.
