BITS, Pilani - Dubai (BPD) was established in Dubai in September 2000 in response to the growing needs for Quality Engineering Education among the residents of Middle East. It is the only international branch campus of BITS, Pilani and was set-up in association with ETA-Net, a member of the ETA Ascon Group. Over a period of 8 years, BPD’s student strength has grown to about 1750 with students seeking admission from not only UAE and other Middle East Countries but also from India and other parts of the world. BPD offers Engineering Programmes at the undergraduate level in 7 different specializations. All the programmes are of 4 years duration and an Internship of 7½ months in reputed industries is included within these 4 years. There are nearly 274 companies offering Internship to the students currently with many more companies coming forward each day. Students are also paid stipend during this internship. Including the 247 students who graduated this year, a total of 647 students have graduated from BPD till date. Nearly 110 graduates have obtained admission to Masters and Ph.D programmes at highly reputed institutions like Stanford University-California, Cornell University , University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, University of California , University of Pennsylvania , Texas A&M University-Texas, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Michigan , Purdue University , New Jersey institute of Technology , University of Toronto etc. The remaining students are well-placed in highly reputed companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, Sony Ericsson, Sungard, Det Norske Veritas, Panasonic, Dell, Larsen and Toubro, Baker Hughes, MAERSK, J. Ray Mc Dermott, WS Atkins, Emirates Airlines, NAMA Mott McDonald, Honeywell, IRCA Middle-East, Acer, Infosys, Standard Chartered etc., in various parts of the world. BPD has established Academic Collaborations with reputed American Universities for the benefit of its students. The scope of collaboration includes preferential admission into graduate programmes for BITS students, joint research activities, credits transfer etc. BPD Students are members in highly respectable associations of distinguished engineers like IEEE, ASHRAE and SAE. Currently with more than 200 students members , IEEE BITS, Pilani- Dubai student branch has been declared as the largest student branch in the Gulf and received UAE sections student membership growth of the year award. BPD students have been appreciated for participation in promoting Electro-technology in the country. The students of BPD have won several accolades not only academically but also on the extracurricular front. This has been possible because of BPD’s continuous effort in creating professionals with an all round personality. The exemplary performance and dynamism displayed by the students who have graduated from BPD are testimony to this . BPD is located at its new permanent campus at Dubai International Academic City and offers world-class, state-of-the-art facilities with well-equipped labs and workshops, separate Library block, Academic Block, Sports Complex, Canteen, Clinic, Grocery, Gymnasium and Hostel blocks.
