Dubai Municipality Secures First Win In NAS Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

The wheelchair basketball tournament at the 11th NAS Sports Tournament, currently being held at the Dubai Club for People of Determination, witnessed great excitement with thrilling pool matches taking the centerstage on the second day.

The encounter between Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Municipality was one of the strongest matches in the tournament so far, and it witnessed cheers from fans in the Dubai Club for People of Determination halls after Dubai Municipality overturned a 14-21 deficit in the first period to eventually win the match.

Dubai Municipality eventually won the match by a point difference of 41-40 in Group A, thanks to the brilliance of Muhammad Al-Zarouni, Walid Shahat, Youssef Saudi, Rashid Al-Zeyoudi and Ahmed Al-Shehhi.

It was also the first victory for the Municipality after losing the first match to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship in Dubai, while the road team lost for the second time in the group after losing to Dubai Police in the first round.

In another match in Group A, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs - Dubai team defeated Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) 27-12, after GDRFA staying ahead 12-9 at break.

Earlier, the Dubai Courts team defeated Mai Dubai 30-14 in the first match of the second day in Group B. Badr Alhausani scored 13 points as Dubai Courts team led 15-4 in the first half, while in the same group Al Bustan Center and Residence team thumped Community Development Authority 24-8 after dominating the match right from the beginning.

On Saturday, Dubai Courts will meet with the Al Bustan Center and Residence team in Group B, while Dubai Electricity and Water Authority play Roads and Transport Authority in Group A, Mai Dubai will meet Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services in a Group B match while last match will be played between Dubai Municipality and Dubai Police General Command in Group A.

Wheelchair Basketball is one of the sports held as part of the 11th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, the largest sports tournament of its kind held during the holy month of Ramadan held under the slogan 'Limitless Abilities'.
