Dubai International Poetry Festival
For the first time, Dubai comes forward with a annual international poetry festival to celebrate Arabic poetry and promoting international understanding through one of the most enduring forms. The theme of the festival is “Thousand Poets, One Language” indicating that it will be conglomeration of poets from across the world, many of whom are winners of the Nobel Prize and other important literary awards. Various forms of classical and contemporary Arab poetry will be features during the festival. Activities include poetry seminars, workshops, reading sessions, and open discussions on the role of poetry in creating a common language for humanity to foster global understanding.
