Dubai Holding’s Ramadan initiatives assist over 125,000 people across Dubai
(12 June 2018)

Dubai Holding has reached new milestones in philanthropic giving and social contributions during Ramadan with a number of initiatives celebrating the spirit of generosity and togetherness, which benefited over 125,000 people from various communities across Dubai.

Regarding their assisting so many this year, Amit Kaushal, CEO of Dubai Holding, said, "Our Ramadan drive has been Dubai Holding’s largest-ever social campaign, to date a hugely positive collective effort of companies across the group working to make a large impact on our wider community. Our collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development, Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, Dar Al Ber Society, Dubai Police, Unilever and Better Life contributes to our ambition to support the government’s efforts to boost the happiness and welfare of the UAE’s citizens and residents."

Dubai Holding launched "Masaai Al Khair," an AED10-million community development initiative, in partnership with the Ministry of Community Development and the Dubai Municipality for social security beneficiaries and low-income families in Dubai.

Dubai Holding also partnered with the ERC to host a large Ramadan Tent in Muhaisnah 4, which assisted more than 30,000 underprivileged people, while as many as 1,000 people received free iftar meals on a daily basis.

Dubai Holding also organised special volunteering days for its employees and the wider community, in collaboration with UAE volunteers. Among the volunteers was Hessa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development.

In collaboration with the Dubai Police, the Dubai Industrial Park hosted a 6km-long iftar table in Jebel Ali, providing 18,500 iftar meals. This initiative involved 200 hours of preparation and participation of more than 35 restaurants and 500 volunteers from various government departments in Dubai.

The TECOM Group participated in distributing over 65,000 complimentary iftar meals to workers. Also, the Arab Media Group provided 23,000 iftar boxes to workers at different venues. Dubai Properties provided iftar meals to their staff at five locations.

Dubai Retail partnered with Unilever for their annual clothing collection campaign, entitled "Share a Touch of Love This Ramadan", to assist the ERC, and with BookHero, for their book stand in JBR selling affordably priced pre-owned and new books in English and Arabic.

Dubai Properties also joined with Better Life to supply complimentary refrigerators to its communities, while Jumeirah Group launched a number of initiatives. The Madinat Jumeirah Resort distributed charity boxes across its hotels to collect donations of clothing, toys and food for Dar Al Ber, and employees at the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah participated in the "Raise Rice Campaign," in assisting the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity.
