Historic First Dubai T100 School Aquathon Draws 600 Young Athletes From Across The Emirates
The inaugural Dubai T100 School Aquathon made a spectacular splash today, bringing together 600 enthusiastic young athletes from 30 schools across the UAE for a morning of competitive swimming and running that marks a significant milestone in youth multisport development in the region.
Held as part of the prestigious Dubai T100 weekend, the event saw students aged 8 to 17 compete across five age categories, with each race tailored to challenge participants appropriately while fostering a love for multisport competition.
In the fiercely contested 13-14 age categories, William Brian dominated the male division with an impressive time of 12:28, while A.L.D Stein claimed victory in the female race, crossing the line in 13:06. Both athletes completed a demanding 200m swim followed by a 2km run.
The senior 15-17 categories showcased rising talent, with Abdulla Aljneibi taking the male title in 13:32 and Maria Fenics earning top honours in the female division with a time of 15:27.
The youngest competitors, aged 8 years, displayed remarkable determination in their 50m swim and 500m run combination. M.V.dHoogen led the boys home in 4:34, while S. Fairbairn topped the girls' field in 5:06. In the 9-year age group's 200m swim event, Y. Almasni emerged victorious.
The event's impressive turnout reflected the growing appetite for multisport competition among UAE youth, with schools from across Dubai and beyond sending teams to compete. Notable participants included established institutions such as Jumeirah College, GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail, Repton School Abu Dhabi, Dubai English Speaking School, and The English College.
Dr. Abdulrahman Nassir from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) attended the event and presented awards at the prizegiving ceremony, emphasising the importance of youth sport development in Dubai's educational landscape.
The School Aquathon's success represents a natural extension of the T100 Triathlon World Championship Series' commitment to inspiring the next generation of athletes and promoting healthy, active lifestyles among young people in the UAE.
Race formats were designed to introduce students progressively to multisport competition, with 9-12 year olds tackling 150m swims and 1km runs, while the 13-17 age groups faced the most challenging distances of 200m swims combined with 2km runs.
With its overwhelming success, the Dubai T100 School Aquathon has established itself as a landmark event on the UAE's youth sports calendar, promising to inspire countless young athletes to pursue multisport excellence in years to come.
