RTA holds brainstorming discussion with students of Al Mawakeb School in coop with INJAZ UAE
(8 June 2017)

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with INJAZ UAE, has held a brainstorming workshop for students of Al Mawakeb School in Dubai (Grade 10 to 12) with the aim of familiarising them with RTA services, transit means and taxis in Dubai. The session focused on the potential challenges in this field with the aim of generating creative ideas from students to cope with such challenges.

“The objective of this workshop, which was coordinated with the non-profit organisation INJAZ UAE, was to furnish students of Al Mawakeb School with RTA’s services and highlight the importance of mass transit means in Dubai. It also prompted students to contemplate new ideas and develop cracking solutions to any challenges that might crop up in future in this field. Students were divided into four groups, each supervised by volunteers from various agencies and sectors of RTA,” said Mohammed Al Ali, Director of Knowledge & Innovation, RTA’s Strategy & Corporate Governance Sector.

“A challenge has been thrown to each group relating to the services of the RTA, public transport means and taxicabs in Dubai in order to come up with innovative solutions to beat potential challenges that might face the metro, tram, taxis and the licensing services, for instance. The session generated 40 ideas, which were screened to identify & assess the most innovative ones. Accordingly, three innovative ideas were identified from each group.

“A contest was then held with judges comprising staffs from RTA’s Knowledge & Innovation Dep’t and members of RTA’s Innovation team. Each group made a presentation to the Judges Panel to explain the respective ideas. Eventually, three innovative ideas were selected from the eight groups and winners were felicitated,” explained Al Ali.

“RTA is always keen on engaging students & youngsters in performing its public transport business. It informs and guides them about the potential challenges ahead in this field, which has a direct bearing on the daily lives of people,” added the Director of Knowledge & Innovation at RTA.
