This state has always attracted the tourists, foreigners as well as people from other states, but they always go for places that are known and popular. Umananda islands
The first place in this list is the smallest river island of Asia that is located in Guwahati. This place is best for the people who want to spend a peaceful and sole time. The name of this small island is Umananda and to reach this island one will have to take a ferry ride from Pan Bazaar. This place has ghats from where you can get those ferries and this will cost you just 20 rupees. So, the peace of your mind will cost you just 20 rupees. Apart from the scenic view of the island, there is a temple of Lord Shiva, which is also a great place to visit. The best time to go to this place is early mornings.
Umimam Lake
This lake is also called as Borapani which means big water in Assamese. This is situated in between the Guwahati and Shillong road. The lake is extended in an area up to 100 acres and to visit this place the best time is evenings. It takes almost an hour reach from Guwahati. When you are coming to this place you can even stop on the highway to enjoy the view around. The place is considered to be the best for long drives. One can book a cab or taxi to reach here.
Hajo
Next up in the list is the religious town of Assam. Hajo is a place that is a pilgrimage for Hindus, Muslims, and Buddhists. This feature of this place makes it more beautiful and popular. Although most of the people may not be knowing about this place, this is definitely a must visit. The temple Hayagriva Mahadev Mandir is popular among both the Buddhists and Hindu followers. Apart from this, the Muslims come here for visiting the Hajo Powa Mecca Mosque. This mosque has the tomb of Pir Giyasuddin Auliya and is most popular among the Muslim followers. Saraighat
It is said that lucky are those who get to see a beautiful sunset. So, if you are visiting Assam in near future, then you can also get lucky by visiting Saraighat. This place is known for its beauty and the beautiful sunset view that it offers to its visitors. This place is the home to India’s longest water bridge and also the longest rail comes road bridge. The beautiful water of Brahmaputra River adds more charm to the beauty of this place. So, if you are coming to this place you are going to witness both the natural and the man-made beauty.
