Dubai Safari Park celebrates the next generation of Wildlife Heroes at the Wildlife Innovators Competition
Dubai Safari Park announced the winner of the second edition of its Wildlife Innovators Competition, celebrating the creativity and innovation of students dedicated to protecting the wildlife. This year, Dubai National School - Al Barsha claimed first place with their Smart Bee Hive invention, which impressed judges with its creativity, functionality, and environmental impact. A practical creation for a very overlooked problem in pollinator decline, the Smart Bee Hive uses old traditional practices with modern sustainability technology to create a solution that can be used in the UAE and beyond.
The competition aimed to harness the imagination and problem-solving skills of students to address challenges faced by wildlife due to harmful human activities. Now in its second year, it invited participants to design prototypes of eco-friendly inventions that provide practical solutions to mitigate habitat loss- the theme of this year’s competition.
Participation has grown significantly, with 310 students from 31 schools across the UAE joining this edition, up from 26 schools last year. This increase reflects the growing awareness and enthusiasm among young learners for sustainability and wildlife conservation.
Muna Al Hajeri, Park Director at Dubai Safari Park shared her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating: “Inspiring students to channel their creativity into practical solutions for real-world challenges is key to impactful education. I was extremely impressed with all of the submissions and the Smart Bee Hive from the winning school, whose innovation shone through their work. By fostering critical thinking around conservation and sustainability, we hope to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers to become advocates for coexisting harmoniously with nature.”
The competition demonstrates a profound commitment to sustainability and biodiversity preservation from students across the UAE, offering a positive glimpse into the future of environmental conservation. The competition is yet another step in Dubai Safari Park’s continued commitment to education that fosters a deeper connection to wildlife, constantly teaching visitors through guided safari tours, wildlife talks and informative live presentations.
